Many people believe that the Pyramids at Giza are located in some remote desert far away from the inhabited world. In reality what once was the small peasant village of Giza has now practically been swallowed up by the expanding metropolitan Cairo. Major roads, apartment blocks, retail strips, restaurants and night clubs now replace what used to be palm-fringed farmers’ fields.

Despite this change in setting the Pyramids never fail to mesmerize and with so many facilities nearby staying in a hotel at Giza has never been more convenient. Staying so close also means it easy to arrive at the Pyramids at the moment they open and avoid the tour bus crowds and (in summer) the extreme heat.
